@liz5davis Dear Liz, Cyclists, horse riders and mobility scooter users can use any part of the lane they are in. A more central position in the lane will often dissuade bad drivers from poor / dangerous overtakes Good drivers plan safe over takes and have no issue with others road position

@pdreynolds81 Hi Peter. A competent and safe driver will be able to plan a safe and legal overtake when the opportunity arises. At most you’d likely be delayed by a minute or so. If you’re cutting it that close to make it to work, set your alarm earlier. Drive safe and legal.

@pabrahams2000 Anger management classes are available if you feel it would help. If you get so angry when delayed when driving, then you might want to consider a different mode of transport and return your licence to the DVLA, as the vast majority of delays are caused by motorists.

‘Road tax’ doesn’t exist anymore. It was abolished in 1937. It’s now a Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), or an Emissions Tax. Roads are paid for out of general taxation (council/income + VAT etc) Those that don’t pollute, don’t pay. The more you pollute, the more you pay.

If you catch up with a cyclist when there is a solid white line on your side of the road, you must not overtake if the cyclist is moving at more than 10mph. Be patient and wait for broken line, then leave plenty of space when you do pass. Passing too close is also an offence.

If you are sat in lane 2 (3,4 or 5) overtaking nothing & the car approaching from behind gives you a friendly flash of lights to ask you to politely move over, just do it. The "gobful of abuse instead" approach may well get you the "£100 fine&points instead" approach 😐

Court result ⚖️ The driver did take the matter to court and paid to be represented. He lost. Convicted of speeding Instead of the 3pts + £100 fine we offered as ticket, he received 5 points + £1,060 in fines, costs & surcharges - PLUS his legal costs #Fatal5 - excess speed

Driver stopped for speeding on the A3 last night. He didn’t see the marked traffic car parked at the side until about 200 meters away. Shame. Apparently he’ll get a really expensive lawyer and see us in court. #Fatal5

The driver of this van seemed to want to tell us it was 2pm already when he saw us filming his handheld phone use whilst driving along the M25. He then realised who we were. 6 points & £200 fine. #Fatal5 - distracted driving

@cristo_radio @rubin29312972 @SingleFilePlz @MikeyCycling Wouldn’t it be great if we had enough cops to do the same. Unfortunately we don’t, so Mikey is providing a really effective element of Road safety. The only people who would find this concerning are Road users committing offences.

The cyclist as suffered a horrific arm injury. The driver was uninjured. Our experience with high viz is it offers little to no help, especially in daylight, as the biggest problem is drivers failing to look properly. We’ll post a court result, when we get there. 3564

Wearing a helmet won’t do much if you get wiped out by a motor vehicle, but they are good if you topple off. Glad to see he’s still smiling. 👍🏼 As a cyclist, the choice, is yours.

Only took 5 mins from cycling out of base for the cycling #VanguardRST to find this driver using his handheld mobile phone. The driver was so distracted texting he failed to notice us stopped next to his window for several seconds. 6 points & £200 #Fatal5 - distracted driving

@Hatch3231 @CyclingInASkirt Ignore the paint. Paint won’t save your life - to be honest, it won’t do anything! The lane is yours, use as much of it as you safely need.

The driver is this car chose to flash his headlights at our unmarked car to get past. We then observed the driver speeding and tailgating others on the M25 near Egham. He’s booked himself a court appointment for 2021. We can’t be everywhere, but we could be anywhere 😉 #Fatal5

Car stopped as it was shown uninsured. “But Officer, I have my Meerkat” - which was duly presented. Turns out the policyholder had made a typo on the registration which the underwriter were happy to cover. 👍🏼 *A Meerkat is not proof of insurance. 😂

This cyclist was daft enough to cycle through a red traffic light…whilst we were behind him in Epsom. Fixed Penalty Notice issued.

The driver of this car sped past our unmarked patrol at 90mph. It turned out the occupants were unlawfully leaving a Tier 4 area to spend Christmas with the in-laws. We saved them from that turmoil and sent them home with a speeding ticket and a COVID FPN.

We often focus our enforcement efforts against those who do most harm to vulnerable road users. This chart shows why a lot of that effort is directed at car drivers. On average 5 people are killed every day in the UK as a result of a collision. We must all do better. #Fatal5

Tonight we escorted 5 of these in convoy from the M3 to #Laleham . Each truck weighed about 110 tonnes & was close to 100 ft long. The amazing drivers having to reverse into one junction to turn into another as it was not possible to turn left. (They’re Bridge parts) #abnormalload

Lots of people asking if this was from today, yes: we can (unfortunately) verify this was Richmond Bridge this afternoon. 😕

@AlStewartOBE In short, no. Vulnerable road users, like horse riders and cyclists are actively encouraged to take the middle of the lane when on narrow roads. It helps stop bad drivers trying to attempt dangerous overtakes. Good drivers will be able to plan a safe overtake easily.

Last night this Range Rover was stolen. As the reining #HideAndSeekChampions we took up the challenge and found the vehicle within an hour. Completely coincidentally we stopped a car later on and found the ignition key to the RR in the passengers pocket. Cell for two please…

The driver of this Ranger Rover was seen driving inappropriately through Guildford town centre by the cycling #VanguardRST Skipper. The driver failed a DrugsWipe and was arrested. Bonus of a @BromptonBicycle fold up bike is it can go in the suspects boot when we move it.

Introducing the latest addition to our RPU fleet which arrived this week. It’s rather unique as it’s our first @MercedesBenz patrol vehicle and also our first plug-in hybrid. #Hybrid #E350e
