At 3pm today the UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system. Mobiles and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action. The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby,

⚠️ The Government is testing the UK Emergency Alert this Sunday (7 September) at 3pm. A loud siren will sound on all phones and tablets, even if they're on silent. You won't need to do anything. If you wish to avoid this siren, you can switch off or use airplane mode.

UPDATE on wildfire at Blackheath Common - the fire is under control but our crew will remain on site overnight to monitor hotspots. Keep windows and doors closed if you are nearby. The wildfire, which has affected four hectares of land, was caused by an out-of-control campfire.
