This week we placed our largest supply order ever - driven both by unprecedented need and the expectation that our tents, sleeping bags, and tarps will all increase in price due to tariffs.

Powered entirely by volunteers and community donations, in 2024, the Supply Depot supplied: 2,000 Survival Setups (tent, sleeping bag and tarp) 5,750 cups of coffee at weekly popups 1,215 of our neighbors accessed the clothes closet on Fridays 10,000 pairs of socks!

Everyone’s gear is soaking wet after the last week, and temps are forecast to drop to near zero this weekend.
We’re closing in on the last day for 2024 donations.

This week we’re coordinating pickups for multiple camps across Minneapolis and St Paul, as well as our usual popup at an encampment and Friday drop in hours. Today volunteers hauled two cars packed full of supplies to our base at GMCC to replenish supplies distroed last week.

This year we’re trying to raise money for 150 full setups. That’s a tent, winter rated sleeping bag, and tarp. Given persistent winter rain, we’re also ordering extra ground covers, ponchos, and warm gloves.

Supply Depot volunteers have watched this in real time over the past year. Last December, we thought 100 tents would cover our needs for the month of January. We were wrong. AND every month since, we’ve distroed more tents than the month before.
BREAKING NEWS - Today HUD released data showing homelessness has reached a record high in the U.S. in 2024, with over 120K more documented homeless compared to last year. 771,480 people experienced homelessness on a single night this past January, including 150,000 children.
