But republicans shot it down. Democrats should try and push a similar bill through again but I’m sure they’ll shoot it down again. If we don’t want republicans to control everything for the next 20 years there’s no choice but to gerrymander just as hard as they are rn.

I agree with the sentiment but unfortunately we’re at the point where there’s no other choice. Republicans control the legislature and presidency, and we’ve tried to pass bills that create bipartisan committees to redistrict for the House of Representatives….
You cannot save democracy by accelerating the erosion of democracy. It might feel good for Democrats to gerrymander blue states in response to GOP redistricting, but it’s a case of the people losing in both places. The issue is corporate & dark money in politics.

I only was interested in like 3 or 4 colleges but my parents forced me to apply to 20 of them 😭.
just remembered to finally get this out now while there’s no news story about a kid getting accepted into 30 different colleges so no one thinks i'm raining on their parade: . it’s very weird to apply to 30 colleges.

Accused of rape gets a chance for evidence to prove their innocence to be presented to the court. There are a lot of problems with the American prison/criminal justice system but the fact that everyone gets a defense attorney is definitely not one of them.

Not defending the original poster but the entire ideal (emphasis on the ideal part) of our criminal justice system is that everyone should get a fair trial. Sometimes that means that a rapist gets a defense attorney, but that also means (in theory) that an innocent person….
This person admitted that they've defended rapists and helped them get lighter sentences
