This video gives a stroboscopic view of a magnetic bound state dynamics. Actually it is a standard video recording while the shuttle speed set high due to intense illumination of the scene. Stroboscopic view is obtained by adjusting speed of the motor close to 60 rev/sec.

There is new paper ( https://t.co/hX9L9WPOSU) about a MBS solution where a floating robotic arm is made using three MBS nodes and controlling the arm by varying the speed of three rotators independently which change the air gap b/w magnets in nodes. See

This is a magnetic bound state setup based on a rotating magnetic assembly in asymmetric quadrupole scheme designed and realized by Daniel Paschall featuring very good stablity and vibration free dynamics. Congratulations!

One should consider the possibility that Assad is in a ship at the moment not yet Moscow.

For example, we have accepted the Russian idea that it is normal for Russian ballistic missiles to fall on Kyiv, but not for Ukrainian ballistic missiles to fall inside of Russia.

On the other hand, the magnetic bound state can be also obtained by translational motion of the FM and this mechanism is mainly responsible of the effect in this case since the small angular oscillation of such long body would not be sufficient to induce a reasonable repulsion.

Here, I_R is the moment of inertia of the FM in radial directions and I_A is the one in the axial direction, I_R is larger than I_A in such a long cylinder and the condition mentioned above is satisfied.

The equation (Eq.80) governing the angular dynamics of FM in this solution (k = 0 when FM and DM speeds are equal) when FM shows that the term (I_R - I_A) should be positive in order the phase of the angular oscillation be 180° with the rotating field for the required repulsion.

Do we need a floating New Year ornament for advancement of science? The ornament has a ⌀6×3 mm magnet on its top and held by a ⌀15 mm sphere magnet attached to a micro motor. Realized on 18/11/2022.

This a magnetic bound state solution based on translational oscillation where the floating magnet (FM) and the driving assemby (DM) rotate at same speed of 8150 RPM. FM consists of stacked ⌀15×10 mm magnets and DM is a ⌀26×10 mm magnet. Motor type is FF-180. Dated 15/07/2022.

An irregular NdFeB magnet fragment (~5 mg) is held in air at the tip of a rotating magnet of the same type, revolving about 102000 RPM attached to a micro coreless moto having 4 mm outer diameter. Experiment dated July, 2017.

Yesterdays experimental setup also works with tiny cubes. Thank you to @Sudanamaru1 and @Balophious for the inspiration, magnets, and friendly competition :)

This is why we should not be concerned much about the Earnshaw theorem. Experiment designed and performed by Colin McNamara (@mcnamara_colin)

Three small magnets float in air over a rotating asymmetric quadrupole field. The orbital rotation is slowed down by two aluminum blocks at side of the setup. The experiment is designed and performed by Daniel Paschall.

A reproduction of vibration free magnetic trapping scheme discovered by Colin McNamara (@mcnamara_colin) based on the rotating quadrupole scheme (Also reproduced next by Daniel Paschall. In this realization the floating magnet (5 mm sphere) is not totally motionless, however.
