3. If you sell shares in 2026 or later and put the money back into other Nigerian shares within 12 months, you pay ZERO tax even on the new gains. It is a big incentive to keep your money inside the NGX instead of taking it out. This clarity is what the market needs atm.

Example: You bought a stock in 2020 for ₦10 On 31 Dec 2025 it’s worth ₦100 → all ₦90 profit is permanently tax-free If in 2027 you sell it for ₦150 → you only pay CGT on the ₦50 gain that happened in 2026–2027

2. Your “starting price” gets reset on 31 December 2025. From 1 January 2026 onward, the taxman will pretend you bought all your shares at whatever the closing price is on 31 December 2025.

1. Going forward anything you earned on your shares BEFORE 31st December 2025 is 100% tax-free forever. No matter how much profit you made from the day you bought the shares until the end of 2025, the government will never tax that old profit.
