Ich bin ein Berliner. I am a citizen of the EU. I fell in love in and with the UK 14 years ago. Now I am left broken-hearted.

I feel quite overwhelmed by the response my last tweet has received. Words can not describe how much your support means to us. It has given me hope and courage, and boy do I need that at the minute! We are not alone.... Thank you!!!

@Manwithadog1 @Subiedoo77 I don't find it hard to believe. I've heard UK white people casually speak out against foreigners often. My French friend who works in NHS was told - while working, by a patient - "we don't like foreigners here".

When your child is the only girl in class with a foreign parent, the only girl who didn't get invited to a bday party and when she asks the bday girl why she wasn't invited and the answer is "because my mum says we don't want people like you in our house".The ugly face of #Brexit

"Stop immigration... more jobs for British people" So fewer people = more jobs? Then let's reduce the population down to 10 people... Would that make our economy thrive? Or could it be that every immigrant is also a consumer. And consumers make jobs. Maybe it's not that simple?
This is Jerry. He's from the Republic of Ireland. He set up a business in the UK, using his EU Free Movement rights, and employs young British people. Bloody foreigners, coming over here, creating jobs, giving our youth future prospects! Makes me sick!

This is stunning. ONS stats show a shocking 10,000 excess deaths in the first 6 weeks of 2018 - when the NHS was in understaffed, underbedded, underfunded winter meltdown. (Note, this excludes flu deaths.) Ten thousand. Lives. Lost. Unnecessarily. https://t.co/NqQHtxMiiI

Stories all should read.

To all the students across our country who took part in #NationalWalkoutDay: Never let anybody tell you your voices donβt make a difference. Youβre an inspiration to millions of Americans who know commonsense gun reform is long overdue. We are with you, and we will not give up.

The Tories just voted down our motion on free school meals. 254 to 312, a government majority of 58. Hang your heads in shame you absolute bastards. #ToriesOut

For this week, when Britain found itself in a time of danger, it turned around and found Europe was behind it - and the other half of our 'special relationship' was not.

Stephen Hawking was asked one time about his IQ and his response defines his greatness: βI have no idea. People who boast about their IQ are losers.β Did you catch that @realDonaldTrump?

Stephen Hawking wasn't expected to survive long enough to finish his PhD. He lived to 76 & became Britain's Einstein - a cultural icon who appeared in The Simpsons & Big Bang Theory, and defender of the NHS to the end. Moral of the story = never stop, even if it seems impossible

Sad to hear about Stephen Hawking. What a remarkable life. His contributions to science will be used as long as there are scientists, and there are many more scientists because of him. He spoke about the value and fragility of human life and civilisation and greatly enhanced both

One of the most extraordinary aspects regarding the mentality of certain Brexiters is that they wistfully hark back to Britain fighting against right-wing extremism in World War II, yet, they seem to be quite comfortable with the rise of right-wing extremism in 2018.

When I walk the corridors and great rooms at Westminster I contrast the Great Women and Men of our past and the dissembling, xenophobic, hate-filled, fantasists of our present. And I feel shame and I cry for what they have made of my country.
Anyone who walks the corridors and great rooms at Westminster must see there the heroic story of our islands. There on the walls and in the sculptures are the establishment and the rebels, the winners and the losers, the great moments of our history.

I find it inconceivable, genuinely, that a government would proceed with a policy (brexit with Mayβs so-called βred linesβ) when faced with this assessment of the consequences. I just cannot get my head around it. If you put this to a vote, it would surely be rejected out of hand

@HywelRoberts2 You end free movement. You throw Europeans into the system which brutalises everyone else: separating husband from wife, child from parent, using detention centres, crippling applicants with debt where they can afford exorbitant applications.
