Many of you wanted to know what exactly happened. This is the chain of events. I hope anyone if facing similar scenario knows about this and takes measures quickly.
I had covid in June 22. Passed quite easily on rest ,. meds and vitamin.
Then one day end July, I woke up to a tightness in stomach, chest, back. Later this became painful. A few days later breathlessness started. I initially thought of a heart issue and went to a doc
Ecg, echo, chest xray ordered. Got it done. Went to a pulmonologist next on advice of doc, identified with collapsed left lung. Covid induced secondary pneumothorax. Admitted, procedure done. Now rest and breathing exercises. Rest for a month, cannot take a flight for 6 months
Chest HRCT done 48 hrs post the procedure. Procedure was inserting a tube in my chest wall to drain water do that my lungs can reinflate ( which it did) . I was low spo2 88-93 consistently before the procedure, that was the breathlessness
Btw, this condition will not come up in any blood test. Easy to confuse with a heart issue, in fact at one point of time I thought that I was having a mild heart attack. Left untreated, can lead to cardiac arrest in some cases :(
Oh , and pulse went upto 135 consistently from 3/4th day. Initially doc prescribed beta blockers for that. The signs for this pneumothorax is chest/back pain, breathlessness and elevated heart rate.
