While the videos and materials are initially aimed at high school teachers and students to inspire the new generation to work in the space sector, they are informative and fun to watch with anyone interested in space.

Dr Martinez discusses her work in building instrumentation to correct for atmospheric effects on light in astronomy and satellite observations. She also explains the need for technical skills in maths and physics, as well as effective communication skills.

Two of the program's videos feature our very own researchers, Dr Joice Mathew and Dr Noelia Martinez. Dr Mathew discusses the process of designing and testing instruments for space missions, highlighting the importance of simulating space conditions on Earth.

The Head of the Australian Space Agency, Mr Enrico Palermo, and the Ambassador of Italy Dr. Paolo Crudele, congratulated the team led by Prof. Michele Trenti, Director of the Melbourne Space Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, for this important milestone.

SpIRIT, the first satellite funded by @AusSpaceAgency and developed in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, arrived at the National Space Test Facility at @StromloANU this morning for the final environmental testing prior to its upcoming launch in space.

It will make the ANU optical ground station work with NASA’s Optical to Orion mission, allowing for the sending of data to the Moon, the Orion capsule, and supporting NASA's Artemis missions. This will allow us to send data very fast to low-Earth orbit, the Moon, and beyond!

Led by A/Prof Francis Bennet, we are constructing a laser optical communication station, a new telescope that will use lasers to send data to satellites and to the Moon. Under the Australian Space Agency's Moon to Mars Initiative, the team received $4.5 million to upgrade it.
