Rocket League is officially at its lowest interest point since 2019. The player count for October 2023 is the lowest recorded since October of 2015 (5 months after the game's release)
I'm not sure at what point a game is considered "dead" but it seems Rocket League is on track🫤

I love that idea. At the moment, it's more of a proof of concept than full blown game. I'm also not the one handling development since it's not my expertise.
But if people really take to the idea, I'd be down to help develop something bigger and would totaly update as we go

Hear me out: I think the fact that Rocket League's core gameplay never changes actually hurts the game. The meta can barely evolve, new mechanics cease to exist and matches get repetitive. Every new season should have changes to the actual game

Personally I think RR failing wouldn’t reshift focus back to Rocket League. I think it’d only show Epic Games that Rocket League related games are not worth investing in. This would just makes things even worse since there’d be less budget and staff

The real count for all platforms (steam, epic, console) is more like 400,000 total. Steam is just an easy metric to track since the games release since Epic didn't exist until Free to Play

I made a note of those factors. Obviously there's more players in the game but when tracking steam players, they are at a new low. Lots of players joined via Epic at Free to Play but all of the metrics have dropped dramatically. Steam was just the easiest to track over the years
