This came up in my memories today. I participated in a little hackathon after this disaster 9 years ago. Little did I know it was the event that started the nonprofit I would be working at 9 years later.

AI is not ready to develop apps yet, particularly complex ones. However, it is great at generating docstrings, tests, and other clean code elements. The shear laziness of developers that still don't bother with this astounds me.

The FTC's move to ban noncompetes is a step in the right direction for worker mobility & adaptability, especially as AI transforms the workplace. Employees need freedom to provide true added value through uniquely human skills. I hope this rule sticks.

It surprises people to hear that the most useful book I've ever read for interacting with AI prompts is The 4-hour Work Week. The sections about how to communicate with a personal assistant were more helpful than any book on software engineering.
