Have cameras finally reached a point where they can't really advance significantly much more?

Sad we can’t have @briefnewsapp’s clear and concise breakdown of the Jan 6 hearings.

I think the language of this patent and RED’s behavior surrounding it is bad for the industry, bad for the democratization of film, and anti-competitive. “REDs patent entitled ‘VIDEO CAMERA,’ is set to expire on 11/04/2028.” Can’t wait. https://t.co/Lh83qdSfOC

RED.com LLC is suing Nikon over what they state is an infringement of their Video Compression Patent that Nikon introduced in the recent 2.0 firmware update for the Z9 camera. With the 2.0 update,...

While I consider this a work account I think it still matters to publicly condemn overturning Roe v Wade. It may only be a draft at this time, but among so many other reasons the United States should not be in the business of sentencing a person to parenthood.

#TurningRed was great. Happy to see something that isn’t using the exact same Disney/Pixar design and animation languages on a production of this scale for once. Looking at you Tangled, Frozen, and Encanto 👀 Congrats to Domee & crew!

Bookmark this @editblog article: “We need to move the project from [NLE A] to [NLE B] and maybe back again. Can you make that happen? Short answer: No. I cannot. Long answer: No. Negative. Nada. Can’t do it. Ain’t gonna happen….” more at:

One question that I saw pop up on a lot of Internet forums and Facebook groups last year (and some already this year) had to do with moving “projects” from one non-linear editing system to another....

To compete with AppleTVs, Chromecast, Roku, etc is a dead end. You specialize in displays. Pretending to be a content provider is a lose-lose for you and the consumer. You are dividing your attention and keeping yourself from producing an memorable product.

Caring about their experience is very much tied to how you choose to educate the customer. Cheap tricks like “demo mode” in show rooms is the antithesis of the values I’m interested in. Using buzz words and unnecessarily pushing resolution jumps over accuracy is just bad.

High quality pixels all around, just a matter of how many you want and how big they are. Stop charging people for pixels they can’t even register at the intended viewing distance. Show you CARE about their experience and have thought it about.

Additionally - and I feel this is key to building trust with consumers - All displays from the same release year/generation should have equal screen technologies, color reproduction, and nits Scale only resolution and display size for each pricing tier.

Ex: TVs should have night shift and adaptive audio “dimming.” So many people rely on their TVs to put them to sleep but the thing will just as likely wake them at 4am when it abruptly shuts off thanks to the sleep timer. What about dynamic beautiful wallpapers or soundscapes?

What’s the solution? Privacy: No mining or exchange of personal data, no ads or junkware Accuracy: • Calibrated out of the box • Cut it out with the motion compensation garbage • Embrace variable frame rates

First - what’s wrong? Their values. Do they value your privacy? * No Do they value accuracy and consistency? * Not unless you pay a premium Do they value you and your relationship with the product? * I would say they instead value your relationship to streamable content

Still one of the most disappointing bits of tech news for me this year. Brief was one of my favorite apps and a sorely needed example of what news apps could be. https://t.co/iwWD6HlOIv
