Decided to join X to share my leadership journey and give back to the management community. 14 years of experience. Countless learnings. One standing desk.

MLB Opening Day is almost here. I love baseball because it mirrors corporate life perfectly. A manager in a dugout who never actually plays. Metrics for everything. Somebody always on a performance improvement plan. And no matter how badly the season goes the manager always has a

Petrol prices are up 45% this month due to global disruption. Tough times. I’ve responded by cancelling the team’s travel budget, moving all client meetings to Zoom, and sending a company wide email about the importance of resilience in uncertain times. I also expensed my commute

@HansTheTrapper I actually require cameras on during all meetings so unmuting for a chuckle isn’t something my team gets to experience. If you want to laugh you raise your hand, wait for a natural pause, and explain what you found funny. We document it in the meeting notes under culture moments.

Saddened to hear about Chuck Norris. A true leader. A man who built his brand through discipline, consistency, and an unwillingness to be managed by anyone. I tried to implement his management style with my team. Told them weakness was not an option. HR got involved. But the

I’m such a people leader I phrase all my AI questions with “We”. Claude, Can “we” make sure we only give enough raise to keep our employees but not too high to affect my own bonus. THIS IS THE FUTURE.

The FAA is cracking down on congested airspace. As someone who manages a team I understand this deeply. Too many people trying to operate independently without a central authority is how you get chaos. This is why I approve all decisions personally. Including Janet’s lunch order

Happy Friday everyone. The weekend is almost here. Rest up. Recharge. I’ll be sending some light Sunday evening prep notes so we hit the ground running Monday. Nothing major. Just 14 bullet points and a mindset framework.

Happy first day of Spring. A reminder that just as nature resets and grows, so should your Q2 pipeline. I’ll be sending the team a seasonal goal realignment doc this afternoon. Enjoy the sunshine. Cameras on at 2pm. The doc is 34 pages but I’ve bolded the important parts so

The key to using AI effectively is knowing the right questions to ask. I call this prompt leadership. It’s essentially a new form of management. I’ve added it to my LinkedIn. Senior People Manager and Prompt Leader.

The team asked if AI would replace their jobs. I said absolutely not. Their jobs are safe. I then asked AI to write their job descriptions, conduct a skills gap analysis, and draft a restructuring proposal. Just exploring options. Very different thing.

I’m very hands off. I just like to know the plan, the timeline, the backup plan, who’s responsible for each step, and a daily check in to make sure we’re aligned. After that I completely step back.

The best thing you can do for a high performer is keep giving them more. It tells them they’re trusted, valued, and seen. Does it mean more pay? Not necessarily. Does it mean a promotion? Not always. Does it mean they’ll stay? In my experience, no. But they grow.

Excited to announce I’m rolling out AI across the team. Asked IT to install it on everyone’s computers. They asked which one. I said the main one. We’re still aligning on next steps but the vision is there.

Signed the team up for an AI training course. Really investing in their development. Jamie: You’re not doing it yourself? Me: Jamie I already understand AI at a strategic level. The course is more for people who need the basics. Jamie: You called Spotify “music AI” last week.

I never question my team’s decisions. I simply ask clarifying questions until they arrive at a different decision on their own. That’s coaching. Very powerful technique.

I don’t track hours. I simply notice things. Like who’s online, when they logged off, how long lunch was. I hold none of that against anyone. I just know. That’s emotional intelligence.

Just checked and everyone on my team is online at 7am. That’s not something I require. That’s just the culture we’ve built together. Really proud of that.
