Reviewing the TV ads for a column I’m writing for a newspaper. After several hours of diligent viewing I have come to the conclusion that the biggest advertisers is the UK charities sector (roughly 2 or 3 a break) followed at some distance behind by the perfume and car industries

In my experience, the biggest weakness in the marketing of any travel brand or tourist board is vanity. "Vanity marketing" stops a brand being innovative, being different, standing out against the competition & resonating with the consumer. My @travelweekly column this week.

When I asked why there were so few speakers for the amount of sea days I was told it was down to budget cuts at head office. That is such a shame - I would hate to see these wonderful features of cruises disappear. #PrincessCruises #CLIA @CLIAGlobal @CLIAEurope #cruiseship

Just back from a wonderful cruise around Polynesia with @PrincessCruises. Sapphire Princess is a lovely ship. Fabulous crew & great food. Polynesia is exquisite. The #cruise involved 22 sea days, but we had only one enrichment speaker who spoke 4 times in 2 days. #cruiselife

I’m in LA at the moment where the city is full of driverless taxis! It’s weird being driven around with no driver in the front, there isn’t much chat about the football/weather/politics but no road rage either! It’s the future they tell me here! It’s great fun but scary too!

I moderate many conferences, in different sectors across the year, but yesterday’s @TravelogixData Client Assembly with 140 guests in Manchester was one of the most enjoyable this year. A warm, engaged & fun audience with insightful speakers & panellists made it a great event!
