Twenty years ago today in #cdnpoli, federal Progressive Conservative party delegates ratified their party's merger with the Canadian Alliance, whose own party had signed off in a vote the day before. The new Conservative Party of Canada was officially registered Dec. 8.

If it's Tuesday, it must be a "Team Economy" news conference for the Liberals. Like last week, it's a "housing announcement." Like last week, the announcement is a statistical rundown on homes well under construction that have already received gov't funding. 1/2.

Ouch. Senior @CPC_HQ source tells the @TorontoStar tonight that the @OntarioPCParty should have helped out in the recent Oxford federal byelection. “Imagine how much 80 (federal Tory) interns could have done in Kanata-Carleton.” .#onpoli.

Pierre Poilievre was asked today about his choice to stop wearing glasses. His wife likes him better that way, he said. Plus, glasses or no, "I have the best vision for the country." Still, here's a bit of the backstory on his new look:

I have tendered my resignation as the global comms chief of @AIIB_Official. As a patriotic Canadian, this was my only course. The Bank is dominated by Communist Party members and also has one of the most toxic cultures imaginable. I don’t believe that my country’s interests are.
