I'm excited to start HF Fellowship at @nyulangone next month. However, this year, fewer cardiology fellows than ever chose Advanced HF. In an article for @ACC #CardiologyMag, I speculate on why that is and what we can do to reverse that trend.

We examined trends in "listing by exception".1) 95% of first time requests are approved.2) those requiring ECMO, IABP, or inotropic support are less likely to be denied.3) of those requests denied, 62% were re-submitted and 83.1% were ultimately approved.
