I wrote up a reading-between-the-lines analysis of the #Google /#Alphabet livestream in Paris yesterday. What really matters: data, integration, #AugmentedReality and a bit of copyright. Find it here: https://t.co/hZ1tyZMLaR #SentientSyllabus #ChatGPT #HigherEd #Bard #Bing

My analysis on #AI and misconduct is up at #SentientSyllabus. https://t.co/2Nv3MAqpZe Start from #AcademicIntegrity. Move from an adversarial context to collaboration. Make writing an academic work as enjoyable as writing your own diary – then deceit becomes pointless. #ChatGPT

I feel like this paper suggests the opposite of what most people are taking away. Under an adversarial prompt distribution, the diffusion model reverts to memorization for a miniscule proportion, 6e-7, of samples. Generative models are very averse to memorization.

Models such as Stable Diffusion are trained on copyrighted, trademarked, private, and sensitive images. Yet, our new paper shows that diffusion models memorize images from their training data and emit them at generation time. Paper: https://t.co/LQuTtAskJ9 👇[1/9]

The #bibtex reference would be: `@ misc{chatgpt_2023, author = {ChatGPT}, title = {Synthesized Communication}, howpublished = {\url{https: //chat.openai.com/chat}}, note = {Accessed on 2023-02-01}, }` #SentientSyllabus #ChatGPT #HigherEd #AI #Education #Authorship 4/4

... but a private communication channel like an email; and @OpenAI actually excludes publisher-like accountability via their TOS. The correct approach IMO is to define a NEW category: "Synthesized Communication" and structure it like a "Personal Communication". 3/4

There is no author, "ChatGPT is labelled a "journal", and @OpenAI as the publisher. However there is indeed an author: a hybrid between prompter, LLM and training data (cf. https://t.co/fVnOdTq1yX); also, the site is not a public journal ... 2/4

OpenAI just released a new model to distinguish between AI/human written text to protect against ChatGPT. The classifier was trained on a pair of AI/human written dataset. However.. I was easily able to trick it by using GPT3 to rewrite the text. Demo: https://t.co/gGZCvP7nbI
