Ohio SB174 puts the emphasis on the best interest for judges and attorneys to increase their power, influence and discretion and would encourage more children losing access to parents in the State of Ohio. Instead, Ohio needs to encourage the emphasis to be placed on children.

Having opinions produced by people with academic degrees (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, custody evaluators, and counselors who are eagle eager to collect fees for their opinions) is a great way to make subjective and arbitrary judgments appear objective.

“best interest of the children” is totally subjective and a matter of individual opinion. This should not be a standard allowable in the family court system.
