The comparison between Big #Oil and Big Tobacco is a very poor one. A better one would be between the oil and #arms industries. The former provides an unquestionable good in access to #energy and the latter the ability to defend, even if both come with big negative externalities.

As it's the centenary of its publication, I decided to re-read Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. What a marvel, this time too! It’s quite possibly the most flawlessly written book in the English language, each page like a whole composition unto itself. #literature
