The Calgary to Banff rail project needs to happen for so many reasons. Beyond the obvious, such as the recent parking issues being outlined is the larger proof testing/habit building. Rail is the past and the future.

It is gutting to hear that Mayor Gondek and her family endured a protest in front of their home last night. The issues we face together as a City are real and impact people in profound ways but acts like this deepen divides and entrench antagonisms.

Fun fact: if Calgary's downtown all of a sudden had its assessment value restored to the 2015 high (a deficit of approx. $16 billion since the drop in oil prices that started in 2014) it would lower the non-residential property tax rate 21.5% #yyccc #yyc
