28 yrs ago, I drove 3 hrs to watch Raceland play fball @ Wheelwright. Had to cross an old wooden bridge to a field with no grass & rusted goal posts. Today, I watched my school play for a state title @ Kroger Field Well done

Former Rowan County standout athlete Justin Graham has died after a valiant bout with leukemia. Graham was a tremendous person from a loving family. Prayers from The Daily Independent sports staff on this sad day of unimaginable loss.

Just take a moment to realize what an impact this one play had on both teams. Each player did their job,.but we should acknowledge umpire Dave Anderson did his job too. In a split second with the game on the line, he made the correct call.

Ryan Bonner has officially been named the boys basketball coach at Ashland per a joint release from principal Jamie Campbell and AD Jim Conway.
Bonner led the Tomcats to a 5th straight 16th Region title and the state quarterfinals as interim coach.

Impressive performance from Wheelersburg. Retired 15 straight batters late in the game to become 1st team, boys or girls, to win a Little League World Series title from Ohio.
Must be something in the water in Wheelersburg. Certainly appears Pirates and Lady Pirates will continue to be a tough row to hoe for area teams for years to come
