I worked on Michibata-san' episode!.AD was Takagi-san and Matsuda-san for Zorro.Aoki-san helped us a lot with his quick reaction and his trust despite the tight schedule! Hoshi-san also helped us prepping for the analog cut.It was fun going back to the kind of scene i used to do

Have been talking to everyone i know on this AI thing but it seems everyone's as confused as me. RN it just feels like an overblown disconnected PR-esque statement like "look how we are an inovative company" aimed at shareholders with no concrete real life production change.

Obviously, if i started talking about storyboard thinking, narrative intent and stuff we discussed and planned with Matsumi san it would take 100 more tweets. To end it all, despite my perfectionism, i am so happy we had fun constructing this scene together with Matsumi-san.25/25

It is kind of me feeding my 16 old self being sooo hooked to the matrix movies, rewatching again and again the fights in slow motion to try and understand exactly, precisely what move they used, and why they chose to use this move in this situation. 24/25.

But these are all moves i want to try developing a bit more, if i get the chance for it. ultimately my text dumps are here for people like me who after reading a book are like " i'd love to know more outside of the text things, what the writer thought process was etc" 23/25.

Something else i tried to achieve is give a typhoon feeling to that last named attack. When other Yonko use a named attack, it usually felt like a cataclysme, i wanted to try and give that grand large scale feeling to luffy (although, oh lordy lord sound design. ) 22/25.

The idea was to transition from drunken fist, dodging with eratic and playfull movement, doing a kind of sleeping fairy form-esque motion into an alternative standing sleeping arhat into kizaru after he get his sword to push him back a bit mixed in with some capoera jump. 21/25.

At this point in the story, Luffy isn’t really trying to beat Kizaru he’s just stalling him. He’s dodging, teasing, keeping things light, only pulling out a named attack once Kiki actually manages to land a hit. He literally at several points in the fight held kizaru in his palm.

Drunken Fist — after fighting Kaido (who used drunken-style moves), it would make sense for Luffy to pick up a little of that. Also, the chaotic, unpredictable feel of drunken fighting is perfect for the vibe of Gear 5. 19/25.

Capoeira — because of its connection to Brazil (where Oda took inspiration from) and its ties to the idea of freedom. Plus, it gives Luffy that bouncy, aerial and grounded playful motion that fits Gear 5. 18/25.

Over time, in the manga, Luffy feels like a pretty all-rounded MMA fighter with boxing at his core, using punches, kicks, some grabs, but not many open-hand techniques. With Gear 5, though, there’s a twist. I thought it would make sense to mix in a couple of other styles: 17/25.

On Luffy's side of things. Luffy’s fighting style has always been super instinctive, and based on people he fought. He learned mostly by sparring with Ace and Sabo, or roughhousing with Garp (who fights a lot like a boxer). 16/25.

After that, luffy try to get some space, scatering everyone in the hope of blasting the original. But it seems it didn't work? Where could the original be?.Then we transition to Ota-san's part. 15/25.

attacking the environment to bypass futur sight. in a deleted cut, one of Kizaru’s clones sneaks behind while luffy is still fending the main one from afar, then comes the part where he grazes Luffy by bouncing a sword strike off the clouds instead of going straight at him. 14/25.

but Luffy matches him and even starts playing with him like he’s a pinball, becoming an image of the sun. At a certain point, Kizaru figures out he’s not going to win head-on if luffy just dodge everything, so he try an other approach, kind of like Luffy vs Enel in Skypiea: 13/25.

To me, his relaxed stance and the design of his sword felt more like a greatsword user. So the idea was: early on, small, efficient movements, thrusts over big swings. As the fight goes on and he starts losing his cool, he throws bigger, heavier attacks. 12/25.

Since he often fights with his hands in his pockets, it made sense that he’d have a footwork-heavy style. When he switches to sword fighting, I went with something closer to longsword/greatsword moves not really kendo, even though you could argue for it based on the manga. 11/25.

and half-measures aren’t going to cut it, which make him go from using his feets like he did against G4 to using the sword. For Kizaru’s movements without the sword, I pulled a lot from taekwondo, like high kicks, aiming at the head or upper body, barely any low kicks. 10/25.
