🏅 Mostafa Kiani Shahvandi has been awarded the @ETH Zurich Silver Medal for his outstanding doctoral thesis titled "Geodetic Time Series Analysis and Prediction Using Machine Learning" (supervised by Prof. Benedikt Soja). Congrats!! 👏🎉.

🛰️🌍 The Living Planet Symposium 2025 (#LPS25), was held in Vienna from 23-27 June 2025. From the Space Geodesy group, Laura Crocetti and Benedikt Soja participated. Laura presented her work on "Retrieving Soil Moisture with GNSS-IR and Machine Learning".

Last week, Matthias Schartner had the opportunity to attend a workshop on "Science and Technology with the Wetterstein Millimeter Telescope" at the Umweltforschungsstation Schneefernerhaus, located 2650 meters above sea level on the #Zugspitze (Germany).

🙌 EGU2025 in Vienna – A Week of Science 🔬 and Celebration 🏅🎊 Benedikt Soja, Matthias Schartner, Matthias Aichinger-Rosenberger, Laura Crocetti, Marcel Iten attended the #EGU General Assembly 2025 in Vienna, held during the last week of April.

🗣️ New publication by Marcel Iten et al. about "Enhanced real-time global ionospheric maps using machine learning" 🙌.Two ML techniques, #CNNs and #cGANs, are applied to enhance the accuracy of existing real-time GIMs. Have a look at the publication!! 👇.

Matthias Aichinger-Rosenberger and Laura Crocetti attended the #GNSS+R #workshop 🛰️ in Leiden, the Netherlands. Matthias contributed with an oral presentation and a poster. 👉 It was a great event bringing together experts and users of GNSS-Reflectometry.

Earlier this month, Benedikt Soja and Matthias Schartner traveled to beautiful Matera, Italy, to participate in the #ESA #Genesis Science Workshop, followed by the 27th Working Meeting of the European VLBI Group for Geodesy and Astrometry (#EVGA).

Last week, Laura Crocetti gave a talk in the "Geo Colloquium" series at TU Wien. 😀 The talk was about her research done during her Ph.D. Thank you, Prof. Johannes Böhm, for the invitation and thanks to all the audience for coming!! 😊.
