Spotlighting songs that hit the Hot 100 back in the day, but which have become completely forgotten by radio now.

I love mornings when I hear a forgotten song on the radio. This morning, it was Chanson's "Don't Hold Back", courtesy of Legends 95.3. I believe that before this morning, I had heard that one on the radio approximately zero times.

I don't think I'd ever heard Go West by the Village People on the radio ever in my life until today. Not surprisingly, Legends 95.3 is to thank for that.

Listening to some old-school R&B this morning in memory of the now-departed @Jammin1015. Slightly related question: can Denver really support *six* Christian stations?

Wow... I'm hearing "Breakin... There's No Stopping Us" at King Soopers right now.

Was very pleasantly surprised to hear "Get Used to It" on Legends 95.3 this morning. This brings the number of times I think I've actually heard this on the radio in my life to...2.

Happy Monday! I have found, to my dismay, that some links on my page are in need of updating and/or fixing. While this will probably be good in the long run, it does make it impractical to post a lot of "on this day" links until then. More soon...I hope!

45 years ago this week, Ironhorse entered Billboard's Hot 100 with what would prove to be the group's only top 40 hit. You can definitely hear Randy Bachman's vocal stylings in this one. https://t.co/WIelThyNnE

45 years ago this week, Roger Voudouris entered the Hot 100 for the first and only time with a song full of yachty goodness. Interestingly, this song never even made the top 20 and yet still made Billboard's 1979 year-end Hot 100. https://t.co/NwmrR2g8Ae

REPOST: Yes, I actually posted a new song, finally. Jay Ferguson is likely best known for "Thunder Island"...and while I like that one, his second (and final) Hot 100 hit has fallen by the wayside. https://t.co/HlGnpgeGcb

29 years ago today, @ForeignerMusic entered the Hot 100 for the final time with a power ballad that, like many power ballads, did not have staying power on the radio. https://t.co/RVeDSMYVVU

NEW POST...also, I've apparently been away too long. Jay Ferguson is likely best known for "Thunder Island"...and while I like that one, his second (and final) Hot 100 hit has fallen by the wayside. https://t.co/HlGnpgeGcb

Had a friend recently say the worst thing to get stuck in one's head is anything by Taylor Swift. It took all of my self-control not to respond with "it must be exhausting..."

NEW POST: Thought I'd try something new for 2024 and actually post something! Today we're spotlighting a catchy, upbeat tune about a road trip in a rather unreliable vehicle. https://t.co/LNP0RU0Bt5

Diesel's big hit, "Sausalito Summernight", is one that hasn't been played in ages, but still holds a place deep in some music aficionados' memories.

And then I followed it up with Donny Hathaway's This Christmas. Palate cleansed.

I think I'm gonna search up Christmas Wrapping as a palate cleanser.

If I had actively been playing Whamageddon this year, I would be out this morning thanks to a coworker not using headphones.

41 years ago today, Saga entered the Hot 100 with what would be the group's biggest hit...though that song never charted in Saga's home country. https://t.co/UovySaAZbR

Canadian rock group Saga is probably best known for a hit that actually never charted in Saga's native country. Remember "On the Loose"?

46 years ago this week, Paul Nicholas peaked at #6 with a story song in which he only gets what he wants in his imagination. And yet, the song works. https://t.co/pZjY14NKtf

Some story songs from top 40 radio have endured through the years. "Heaven on the 7th Floor" by Paul Nicholas is decidedly not one of them.
