Yesterday afternoon the Ulster Tower welcomed Cregagh Friends of the Somme, who were joined by a visitor from England for Austin’s tour of Thiepval Wood.

Today we remember the brave actions of the 16th (Irish) Division in the Battle of the Somme. The Battles of Guillemont & Ginchy took place from the 3rd to 9th September 1916. Lest We Forget

Today the Somme Museum received a visit from some lovely visitors from Scotland. They were taken around the museum exhibitions and ‘trench experience’ by Claire.

With deepest sadness we leant of the passing of our dear friend and Korean veteran Albert Morrow. Albert Morrow 9th January 1928 to 25th August 2025.

That is Carol & Trevor finished their rotation at the Ulster Tower & Austin is now at the helm. It was great to meet so many lovely people and to hear their family connections to the First World War or the reason for their visit. Austin will be there for the next three weeks.

Yesterday the Ulster Tower welcomed our good friends from Friends Of The Somme Dungannon Branch . They went on a tour of Thiepval Wood with Carol followed by lunch. Great to see so many familiar faces & thank you for your generous donation towards the work in Thiepval Wood.

Looking for somewhere to finish today well why not visit the Somme Museum between Newtownards and Bangor. It is open from 11am to 4pm and tours are ever hour. Last tour 3pm.

It was a pleasure to welcome Tracey McRory back to the Ulster Tower. It was a very poignant. Many of you might have heard Tracey play at the Menin Gate over the years so it was special to have her play at the Ulster Tower.
