The man who discovered the first bones at the Hot Springs Mammoth Site describes the find.

In June 1974, construction worker George Hanson unearthed unusual bones while preparing the area for a new subdivision in Hot Springs. His son recognized one of the finds as a mammoth tooth. The find led to a paleontological site at which research and excavations are continuing.
