Yesterday, SMS BPA members were invited to Legislative Hall in Dover for an event to honor and recognize the achievements of business and technology students throughout the state! They shared information about the events they competed in at this year’s BPA leadership conferences.

Yearbooks are in! We have a limited quantity still available for sale on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $40 and payment can be made in cash or a check made out to SMS. Students can see Ms. Attix in room 415 or go to the main office to purchase a yearbook.

After working up an appetite yesterday at field day, Mrs. T’s class went to Grottos on a community based instructional trip. They learned how the kitchen, freezer and ovens operate and how to make their own pizza, which they ate and LOVED! 🍕

Our young scientists in STEM - Medical Detectives wrapped up a unit about the nervous system of the brain with a hands-on sheep’s brain dissection activity! They identified parts of the brain to show structure and function.

Today, Student Council took a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo to learn about how they can be leaders in our community by promoting conservation and protecting the environment.

Mrs. T’s class hiked 12,420 steps and 3.2 miles to complete Killen's pond nature trail today! They also visited the nature center, saw a turtle and a snake on the trail. They have been training for weeks to be able to make it the whole way around the pond to complete the hike.

SMS hosted their first Battle of the Books competition on Wednesday. To prepare, each team had to read 20 books over the past 3 months. They then had to answer some pretty challenging questions to make it to the top three. Congratulations to our winners!
