In the latest #Minecraft Preview, Add-on settings now works! It's undocumented, but you can now read values from the settings.
Currently, it doesn't do anything, but it is a step closer since they're finally documenting it. Versioning is also different, see the tweet below to see the updated format.

For Vanilla - Code was added to make flying mounts possible, which the Happy Ghast used.For Creators - Java devs have stated Vanilla VV won't have colored lighting, however, a Mojangster stated they are reworking the system to allow creators to use colored lighting in their packs.
I do wonder how VV will move forward now. Will it be like Entities where they focus on Vanilla VV and expose it or more like blocks where it's focused on creators first.

Talked with Poggy and discovered we can override vanilla jigsaws outside of trial/trail! Experimenting more soon.
