Really happy to see this come to fruition today. Big up the team at @BraceYourself Records for supporting the idea from the off and making it happen...
What are we after when we buy a record? A physical format to listen to, or a souvenir from our favourite artist? UK band Dog Unit are raising the question with their new sustainable "Greensleeves" format. https://t.co/j776XN1ndg

Was a genuine thrill to interview Jeff Tweedy and Cate Le Bon about the new Wilco album, and about music-making in general - so much refreshing thought. Having just finished making a record myself, this passage from Jeff really resonnated with me, in particular:
Cousin, the new album from @wilco, is one of their most adventurous records since their critical and commercial breakthrough, and the input of @catelebon is a key reason why it’s so special. @SmWltn spoke to them about how it all came about https://t.co/hf6nhP7tb5

Sure, everyone will be at Glastonbury by tomorrow night, but in case you're not, and still fancy some live music, can I heartily suggest @thisisdogunit's gig in Dalston instead? Get £3 off by using the code WOOF here: https://t.co/wib1A5Nksd

Now, I'm a terrible self-publicist, and seldom tweet, so I'm not sure what the protocol for this sort of thing on Twitter, but if you like these pics, and would like me to photograph your band or a band you represent/look after, hit me up...

@LoudAndQuietMag ...and then from bands slightly lower down the poster, but every bit as exciting to watch (Maggie Rogers, Soul Glo, the Moldy Peaches and Sparks).

I went to Primavera for @LoudAndQuietMag this weekend just gone, and photographed loads of really great shows. Here's a two-tweet selection of some of my favourite moments, first from the headliners (Blur, Depeche Mode, Kendrick Lamar, Pet Shop Boys)...

The chat I had with James Holden about his new album, 90s provincial raves, and why kick drums are stupid, is now up the @LoudAndQuietMag site. Go read!
“Music is an activity, not a product – it’s a social thing” From issue 158, our interview with @mrjamesholden is now on the site

There's something completely foundational about them, something to them that's impossible to screw up. They're seemingly impervious to fads or fashion, utterly pure. Like songwriting soil.

Another observation about Bacharach's songwriting, after a quick Spotify rummage: the fact there are *so* many different arrangements of his hits that just shows how resilient his songs were.

The way the melody weaves so skilfully around the lyrics, reshaping them from sad-sack to stoic/hopeful; and then, in the instrumental coda, the way the extra beat every other phrase offers a little jolt of encouragement. So much glorious detail I'll never tire of listening to.

Burt Bacharach obviously wrote a mind-blowing number of beautiful songs, but among them was Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head, aka my favourite song of all time. What an extraordinary contribution to music he made.

I spent yesterday afternoon trying to work out why news of Mimi Parker's death hit me particularly hard. Here's what I came up with.
Here at L&Q we were all extremely saddened to hear of Mimi Parker's passing. She was an amazing person. @SmWltn has written a beautiful reflection on why she and her work meant so much to so many people https://t.co/OGL3utUS8H

The cover story for this month's Loud And Quiet, about my day trip to Southend with @DryCleaningBand, just went online. They're a great band, it was a revealing chat. Go read/buy/subscribe etc (if you want)
"It’s not like ‘Oh now I’m going to be in a band and do this weird thing’. I’ve always enjoyed listening to people talk – that’s just nice.” For the cover of Issue 155 of L&Q, @SmWltn went to Southend with @drycleaningband to talk Stumpwork: https://t.co/6Z87FUPIN2

A fairly hard and fast rule: any band with the word "party" in their name are awful. Exceptions: Bloc Party (first album) and The Birthday Party.
