The nonprofit group Skiku has gotten skis onto the feet of 8,000 kids and 500 adults, 98 percent of whom are Alaska Native.

Hi friends! We have been busy creating a unique program for this season! We just launched our rural ski check out program and an 8 week video series(trailer below)to keep kids motivated to ski! Kids who finish the program will receive a handknit hat or mitts from #iknitarod 2020!

#uglydogs ! We are so overwhelmed by your generosity to knit and send the most lovely hats, mittens and scarves for the children in rural AK! The kids are going to be overjoyed with their gifts! We received knitted goods from coast to coast in the US and even Australia! 🙏🥰❄️

Thank you for being a positive role model for all of us @QuinceMountain ! So much was accomplished by you and your team during your rookie Iditarod run! The Skiku community is so proud of you and grateful for the support through @igivearod !
Because of increasing coronavirus precautions, the Iditarod is closing checkpoints early and has withdrawn Q from the race. They are flying his healthy team of 14 dogs back to Anchorage. It’s heartbreaking. Q told the dogs they did so well that they won Iditarod early.
