A word of caution from your friendly, neighborhood Sign Museum this #TradeFriday as we near the end of year celebrations. If you are one to enjoy the items sold by The Liquor Dealer as seen in this early American symbol, please do so responsibly!. #NewYear2024

#TBT: an acquistion from the 1930s. This Keystone Pictograph Projector used 2 bulbs and interior mirrors to project enlargements of photos, drawings, etc. for signpainters to transfer their designs to walls and other surfaces. The projector cost $16.50 in 1939 or $370 today.

#DYK that a large chunk of the electric bill actually is related to keeping the 100 year old factory the Museum calls home heated and cooled properly? That bill is about to go up thanks to the new wing's HVAC system installed Monday!

This 1970s blade sign, named for its tall and skinny shape, would’ve had great viewability at its original location at 7th and Race in downtown Cincinnati. We unfortunately don’t know much about McHahn’s aside from it closed in 2014 after being in operation for over 30 years.

Though not in their final places yet, just seeing signs on what will be the new portion of Main Street has us excited! The team has started to put wall frames which is really starting to transform this former storage space. Stay up to date!

From signs from across not only the city but the country (including our 38th state of Hawaii!) and signmaker tools, the Museum was able to acquire and preserve 40 pieces of sign history in 2023. Be a part of all the new in 2024. Make your gift:
