Come for the enthusiastic advocacy for walking, kids, cargo bikes, and safe mobility, stay for the withering feminism (and the occasional beach pic).

Also thanks to the neighbors who spent years lobbying for better traffic control at this location.

We are continuing to make our D1 streets safer for everyone. Thanks to City Transportation Department staff, there is now an all-way stop at the entrance to Kate Sessions Park at the intersection of Soledad Road and Park Drive.

My most consistent act of micro-feminism is reminding people that I schedule meetings around my kids, because while reliable childcare disappears after 5th grade (or sooner), 11-year-old children *weirdly* aren’t capable of caring for themselves independently at all times.

Community: we would like to cross the street here.* City of San Diego: No, just walk up this “sidewalk” a block to cross instead. *while taking this photo I watched five people cross here.

If I have to have one more conversation with my tween about how she will die if she doesn’t get an e-bike I’m moving us to Copenhagen.

For a longtime active transportation advocate, nothing is so simultaneously awesome and terrifying as your kids being able to bike/scoot themselves to the drugstore on their own.

In her most Gen Alpha hot take on mobility to date, my child just called the Super73 “the Stanley of e-bikes.”

What do you when it’s one of the busiest days at the beach, and you need to get your kids and all their stuff there anyway? Take the Beach Bug! Amazing what three years of planning and some parking meter funding can get you.

On-street parking would never have been allowed on this street if it was in the US, because “safety.”

Love to see cities supporting access for kids and their parents. Mobility for children is about more than sidewalks and car seats.

Good news is that the City has already replaced them! But will the last longer this time? The point of quick-build is to install simple changes that can be modified/improved over time to fit the needs of the community, but that concept won’t work if vandals destroy them first.

They look like just a few plastic bollards, but they represent over three years of work on the part of advocates, residents, academics, city staff, elected officials, and other slow street allies. Thank you to everyone who made this happen.

In the summer we take trips strictly so I can take photos of infrastructure in other countries that makes me jealous.

A pedestrian struck by an SUV or pickup truck is 41% more likely to die than a pedestrian struck by a sedan at the same speed. We need to reign in supersized vehicles. https://t.co/VEbp6YNAYU
