Gosh, look at this busy searchroom - the amount of documents out make us a little nervous, but what a thriving atmosphere you can feel! It feels this exciting on our open Thursdays. [PH/S/13/C/8/162-163]

We come across some gorgeous seals here, so of course they find their way onto socials - this particular one is so well preserved we just had to share. From July 1328 (MEDIEVAL ALERT), this seal is attached to an Exemplification by the bailiffs of Shrewsbury. [322/2/85]

Ah well, doesn't this look much more like the interior we know and love, just all the way back when. It feels like a spot the difference, the index cards are out by the front, and there's no Lily Chitty room! What else is different.

We've acquired a new volunteer this week! Meet Amelia, the newest addition to our Friday cohort. She will be working on one of our common place books, and reading handwriting some of us may never understand. Welcome!

It's like she just can't get enough, Alison is back to loading up the new store 3 shelves! Although we suppose it must be done if we're going to make best use of them, so Kerry and Sarah are down there with her too, putting a real shift in (caught off guard by the photo ambush).

After a speedy shift last Monday we filled ANOTHER bay! Our fastest shift yet, with the most boxes, so our guns are burning. Maybe we should start timing them.

On this day in 1949: The crowds are watching mounted police escorting a procession for The Royal Show along Pride Hill. Presumably this was for Princess Elizabeth's visit! . [PH/S/14/20/385]

You see those lovely ladies in the background? They are Mary², two of our lovely volunteers. They are responsible for the gorgeously satisfying packaging in front of you, and that was only a small section!

On this day in 1914 - King George V visits Shrewsbury! July is always a time for monarchs appearing and boy were the crowds of people ready for it. [LP/133-4]

Feels a bit cheeky directing you to our May blog at the end of June, especially as it'll feel like a double whammy when you see the June blog appear, but we're back with a new update! Have a read of the mischief occurring in May.

There's nothing to complete an outfit like a yellow hard hat - here we have folks examining some bits and bobs before the building gets finished. Good to see you never stop enjoying being too tall for small spaces. [PH/S/13/C/8/-]

Don't forget Off the Shelf tomorrow, 2pm! Join John Parkinson, local researcher and genealogist, to explore the 1921 United Kingdom Census, which was the first taken after World War I. This Census is particularly iconic, with its amusing quirks, and its relevance to Shropshire.

We're here to motivate you this Monday with some satisfying moving progress - these bays are full and organised and up to date, and we are chuffed with how it's going. We've started the next one, and we've been sending Stu down the aisle with a trolley.

Enormous shelves or tiny Alison? What if we were to tell you it was both! Thanks to the hard work of fitters, we have some finished new shelves to show you in store 3, with a good natured Alison for scale - makes them look impressive. We're already planning how best to use them.
