His journey is a trail of freed people: Alabasta, Skypiea, Dresseosa, Wano, and more. This legacy aligns with the legendary “Warrior of Liberation” Nika who brought smiles to the faces of the oppressed.

To find what his ultimate dream is, we must look at Luffy’s most consistent action. A clear pattern emerges: Luffy is a liberator, and every liberation ends in a grand banquet.

The title of Pirate King grants a state of absolute agency, unbound by authority. It’s the platform needed to launch an ambition so grand, it would be laughed at by almost everyone.

But wait, isn’t his dream just “to be the freest man on the sea?”. This is a common misconception. The manga makes a clear distinction: freedom is the means to an end, not the end itself.

The link between Luffy’s and Roger’s dreams isn’t just implied. It’s explicitly confirmed. This “Inherited Will” is a core theme of One Piece, passed not by blood, but by spirit.

For the third time, the words are withheld. Instead, we get a glorious double spread focusing on the diverse reactions of his crew mates. This solidifies the dream’s central importance to the final saga.

The deliberate concealment of the dream’s words is a narrative device. It forces the reader into the same position as the characters. We are denied the literal text, compelling us to deduce its nature based on its effect on those who hear it. Its impact is its essence.

Scene 2: Roger’s Declaration. Years earlier in the timeline, Roger sits with Whitebeard and Oden. In a moment of camaraderie, he shares his ultimate goal “That’s right!! And then I’ll…”. This setup is a direct parallel to the scene of Sabo, Ace, and Luffy.

We don’t hear the dream, but we see the reaction. Ace and Sabo are first stunned into silence, then burst out laughing. This established the dream’s traits: it’s audacious, unconventional, and seemingly absurd.

Scene 1: The 3 Brothers Dreams. Sabo wants to see the world and write a book. Ace wants to make a name for himself. Then…. it’s Luffy’s turn. He shouts his dream with a huge grin…. and the words are completely hidden from us.

Our first piece of evidence comes from three parallel scenes where the dream is shared, but its words are hidden. This deliberate choice by Oda is key.

For 25+ years, we’ve heard it: “I’m going to be King of the Pirates!”. But it seems that isn’t Luffy’s REAL dream. What if it’s just a stepping stone to something so much bigger, it’s been hidden in plain sight?. Let’s get started.

So let’s put it all together. Haki is a manifestation of Spirit. In this process, it serves a dual purpose:.1. The SHIELD that preserves the blade’s body.2. The CONDUIT that channels the swordsman’s soul into the steel.

To wield Enma is to engage in a constant battle of wills. Zoro’s struggle and eventual triumph over Enma during his fight with King represents his final understanding of Kozaburo’s lesson. He learned to impose HIS will upon the blade.

Kozaburo taught that famed swords pisses distinct “temperaments”. A swordsman’s duty is not to fear a blade’s unruliness but to understand its unique nature and ultimately bend it to their will.

The final piece of the puzzle comes from Zoro’s flashback to Kozaburo, the man who forged both Wado Ichimonji and Enma.
