This is solid analysis. Now…things go wrong when coaches draw up plays in games - defenses blow things up, players make bad decisions when the pressure of the game rises, someone doesn’t do their job, etc. If you speak to most coaches, they have a few plays they have ALREADY
My breakdown of Syracuse’s final play of the game I’m certainly not a division 1 basketball coach, but this seems relatively basic to me. Tell me if you disagree. @McAllisterMike1

I know it’s arrogant, but Iowa State is so far and away better than Syracuse that it is insulting we were given this game. Waste of time when we should have gotten to play a team like Alabama or Tennessee

Same problems… - shot selection - offensive flow - relying on the 3 point shot when they aren’t a great 3 point shooting team - defense is ineffective unless they get turnovers - not taking care of the ball (These are all things you need to do consistently well to beat NCAAT

I kind of like that Syracuse has a crack at another legitimate NCAAT resume boosting game rather than some of those other potential matchups (Rutgers, UNLV, etc) - and you should, too. There aren’t a ton of Q1 win opportunities left on the schedule. It’s a win-win situation…if

Multiple things can be true at once… 1 - Cuse looked great tonight against a good team 2 - They could still not be an NCAAT team 3 - We won’t know who this team really is until mid Jan 4 - I could be wrong and SU wins 24 this year Remember Texas and Texas Tech last year?

It’s a long and grueling season. Just like we shouldn’t overreact over the Monmouth game…we shouldn’t overreact over this Houston game. Some of you who were losing your MIND over how bad we were after Monmouth are now calling us an Elite 8 team after Houston. Time will tell!

I still think Syracuse is a bubble team at best (and more likely a non-NCAAT team)… but this group is definitely more mature, tough, athletic, skilled, and enjoyable to watch than recent teams. Should be an interesting season. Your thoughts?
