Nieblas is 28 yrs old. His resignation from the Sheriff’s Office was 6/25/25, prior to the start of the CBI investigation. Acting on a tip, the CBI served a search warrant at his Norwood residence on 7/10/25. It is believed that Nieblas is not currently in San Miguel County.

Not kidding- there’s a large boulder the size of a small CAR in the center of Highway 145 mm 75.5. Deputies on scene directing alternating lanes of traffic. CDOT in route.

Black Bear Pass is now open after stuck vehicle retrieved. Two local men had driven up the wrong way overnight and passenger wheel became stuck when they tried to turn around. Telluride Marshal's brought them down in UTV.

Note that the use of personal fireworks is prohibited under fire restrictions in any part of San Miguel County. The Town of Telluride will maintain the remaining scheduled events throughout the day, including the drone and laser shows that evening. Wishing all a safe & fun 4th!.

From Telluride Fire: Telluride's July 4th fireworks show is cancelled after thorough assessment of wildfire risk. Stage 1 fire restrictions for unincorporated San Miguel County are effective July 3rd. We know this is disappointing, but safety of our community must come first.

All roads and trails off Black Bear Rd (County Rd K69) will be closed Thu, June 26th, 6am-5pm for maintenance. Bridal Veil Falls and Bridal Veil hiking trails, the Via Ferrata, and Lewis Mill trail will be closed. There will be a significant risk of falling rocks on the roadway.

The woman was transported by ambulance to the Telluride Medical Center. “This is the second SAR mission in two days,” Sheriff Covault said. “I want to thank the men and women on our SAR team who are regularly willing to drop everything and respond to these rescues.”.

SAR responded to Bridal Veil Trail in Telluride Sat for a 56 yof hiker w/an ankle injury. Rescuers hiked 3/4 mile up the trail, loaded her onto a litter-wheel, & brought her to the trailhead. Seven SAR personnel and a Telluride Fire crew participated in the two hour mission.
