Jim Wells thinks Protestant students go to England for university because Queen's have Irish language signs in the SU. Don't they go to Irish universities either then?

Surely he is unfairly painting people as complete bigots I went to Queens Yes it had all the unionist symbolism, RUC band at graduation, national anthem etc Didnt matter It was our local university Mixed students Mixed staff
@gingirish
@EmmaL_R90
but then it was infiltrated because the anthem is no longer played at graduation and students dare to wear certain sports tops. Wonder if Aussie Rules jerseys have the same effect? He clearly hasn't thought through how entitled this makes them look
@Shellmccabe
Someone should ask him why Protestant secondary school students attend the Donegal Gaeltacht then.
Seems a strange thing to do if SU signs are going to affect them at 3rd level.
@aggressie
@MrRCain2
if someone picks a university based on the language on its signage (even tho there isn't any) or the clothes the students wear rather than its reputation and course provision then perhaps university isn't the place for them. They won't survive the critical engagement in lectures
@Shellmccabe
He's full of something the profanity filters won't like last time I was in Queen's there weren't any Irish signs and even if there were it wouldn't have put me off going and I'm glad I did I made a lot of friends from around the world and got an excellent degree at the same time
@somaticon
I've been at QUB twice, 20 yrs ago for my MSSc and now for a doctorate. Signs could have been written in Dothraki - too busy trying to earn my degrees to notice. I understand it is important for those who speak Irish, but it makes no difference to those who don't
