Not ideal for the 4 inch water pipe that feeds the greenkeeping shed burst in the middle of the 1st fairway but all repaired now. The machines can be washed, irrigation tank filled and more importantly I can fill the kettle now.

Nice to get the chance to help with a morning shift at my old workplace today, preparing the course for @uskidsgolf . A lot has changed since my time as an apprentice all those years ago, think I was only allowed to use a flymo back then.

The feet are feeling it today after putting in the steps on and off the course this week. It's all been worth it though.

Loving life back on a flymo this morning. Was like being back in my apprentice days. Mind you I nearly had to ask how to start it.

The sunrise at my gaff over the past week has been pretty sweet.

Two very different shifts today. Football then back to work to get a head start on the greens maintenance.

Got back into work mode by updating the planner with all this season's competitions. Think the hole changer is going to be busy this year. Didn't include ladies and senior medals as my pen would have run out of ink.

With 2024 all but done and dusted. Now is the time to look back on all the adventures we had @prestonfieldgc As ever the boys have smashed everything thrown at them.

Have had this technology on the course for just over 2 years now and it's still delivering great results. A brilliant addition that is not only cost effective, but reliable.

Autumn maintenance over for another year. Boys have done a great job getting everything knocked out and back to normal within two days. Also an added bonus that I don't need to walk backwards behind a procore tomorrow.

All season long the greens have been performing to a high standard. A big shout out to the boys who have all played a part in making this possible. The fact that they have had only one fungicide app and 68kg of Nitrogen thrown at them this year, makes it even more satisfying.

Had to deal with 8mm of overnight rain and a layer of leaves across the course first thing. However when everything is tidied up, you'd be forgiven to think it was the middle of the summer.

Greens surfaces at @prestonfieldgc absolutely glowing at the moment. Disease pressure has been problematic recently but reducing plant stress using old school methods is seeing them thrive.

Yesterday was a good day.

I'm going to miss the old girl, but it's time for a little weekend away in Ireland golfing, then off to Majorca for the family holiday. Looking forward to swapping work emails for guinness, watered down lager and sun loungers.

Definitely a day revolving around turfgrass for me today. Golf course, then onto a football pitch. Think I might go home and cut the garden to finish off the day.

The sun's got a cheek coming out as I head to my last green. All I've had for the last 3 hours is wind and rain.

Got an irrigation mainline leak, golfers annoying me, and feeling a bit irritated. Suddenly The Stone Roses and Sally Cinnamon comes on the radio, the sun comes out and I realise the course is looking pretty sweet. Angry wee man syndrome goes away for the time being.
