Why Shiplap? Shiplap creates a modern, cohesive look. The black pine boards complemented the slate tile, while the nickel gap added subtle detail, maintaining a clean, sophisticated appearance.

Step 2: Adding Shiplap With the slate tile set, we turned to the fireplace chase. To enhance its height and presence, we chose 1x6 Timeless Midnight Black Smoot Pine Nickel Gap Shiplap Boards.

Sealing Edges: We used heat-resistant black silicone sealant where the matte black aluminum tile edging met the fireplace insert. This step created a polished look while sealing edges to handle fireplace heat and prevent gaps.
