"We need everyone - everywhere. Every person holds power to change their community for the better, and I’m more into leaderships, than leadership. I remember this every day when I’m at Booker T." ⁦@ShakSimley⁩ 👸🏿🍑👩🏾‍🌾#knowyourneighbor

BREAKING: The Supreme Court just overturned Roe v. Wade, ending our constitutional right to abortion. We know you may be feeling a lot of things right now — hurt, anger, confusion. Whatever you feel is OK. We’re here with you — and we’ll never stop fighting for you.

52 U.S. Senators blocked voting rights legislation. Some of them tweeted on #MLKDay, while resolutely opposing legislation to prevent states from suppressing the votes of Black, Brown & rural communities. These Senators invoke a martyr, while castigating his legacy & teachings.

There is a rumor circulating that all #EBT benefits balances must be used by 12/31/21. THIS IS NOT TRUE! Your benefits balance rolls over. There's no need to panic or to use all the benefits if you don't want to. If you have questions about your CalFresh benefits: (415) 558-4700.

Quick reminder: Kindness and justice are not synonymous. Be kind. And advocate and work for justice. Lives depend on it.

As the @megablacksf #Juneteenth on the Waterfront event wraps up, I managed to get a photo with my friend & organizer @ShakSimley who was the one that invited me in the first place! She’s one in a million and this city is an infinitely better place because she’s in it 😍😍😍

“I am a survivor of the Tulsa race massacre. Two weeks ago, I celebrated my 107th birthday. Today, I’m visiting Washington, DC for the first time in my life. I’m here seeking justice, and I'm asking my country to acknowledge what happened in Tulsa in 1921.” –Viola Fletcher

Dear baby girl Ma’Khia: Right now, someone is excusing your death for their own reasons. No excuses. I believe that you being shot and killed by police is reflective of an ideology and persistent inhumanity that this nation refuses to address. I mourn you and I’m sorry.

Our hearts are with the families of the AAPI women slain yesterday. Hatred is infectious and cumulative - it begins w pejoratives about race and evolves into acts of unspeakable violence. We must do more than condemn. Our responsibility is to protect and defend. By word and deed.

We don’t know how many chances we will get to reverse our democracy’s near-death experience. We must not waste this one. We must go big — the future of democracy demands it. My op-ed in @washingtonpost:

The challenge now is what we do to keep that from happening again.
