I have officially completed my greenskeeper internship at Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff, Illinois! I gained lots of valuable knowledge this summer, and I would like to thanks the management, other interns, and crew for that. I can't wait to see what the school year beholds!

This past week also included the first of many baseball games for the Fayetteville Recreation League, which I am a Volunteer Assistant Coach for. I am excited for the upcoming season, Go Guardians!

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Arkansas State FFA Turfgrass CDE. It was great to see many High School Students from the State of Arkansas be able to compete in such a well run competition!

I had a great week at the annual GCSAA conference in San Diego! I had the privilege of competing in the Turf Bowl, made many connections, and got to explore the trade show. Big thanks to the Mississippi Valley GCSA for supporting us!

Another successful time at the #GCSAAConference. Students attended educational seminars, networked with industry leaders, visited Torrey Pines Golf Course, and competed in the Turf Bowl. Great experience getting to learn more about the turf management industry. Till next year!

Congrats Hayden!
Congratulations to Horticulture student Hayden Hawthorne for being awarded the Arkansas Turfgrass Association Outstanding Intern Scholarship. Hawthorne was awarded recently at the 2025 ATA Conference. Hayden is an extremely hard worker, and this award is well deserved.

Very grateful to have received the Outstanding Intern Scholarship from the Arkansas Turfgrass Association at this year’s conference. It was a great opportunity to hear from experienced individuals in the turf industry, as well as see some familiar faces. Thank you @Ark_Turf_Assn
We were fortunate enough to be able to give out 2 scholarships this year. The first one was to Seth Ford for “Incoming Freshman” and then to Hayden Hawthorne for “Outstanding Intern.” Both are students at the University of Arkansas in the Turfgrass department. Congrats!!

I would like to thank the ATA for this incredible honor! Last week I had the pleasure of spending time listening to different speakers, and learning more about what goes on behind the scenes in the Arkansas Turfgrass industry. I couldn't have had a better start to the semester!

This past week students volunteered for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Some of the tasks included mowing, hand watering, raking bunkers, and course set up. Great opportunity to work on one of the top courses in the state and cheer on our fellow Arkansas Razorbacks!

I had a great time this weekend volunteering at the Blessing Golf Club in preparation of the BCI. It was nice to gain some experience and learn what it takes to go into a large golf tournament!
