The fight for justice against corruption is never easy. It never has been and never will be. It exacts a toll on our self, our families, our friends, and especially our children. In the end, I believe, as in my case, the price we pay is well worth holding on to our dignity.F. S.
Anyone fighting corruption knows it is excruciatingly
exhausting.
At 84 I know it best.
The tragedy is, we are fighting the biggest offender, the very system that was meant to protect us.
How ironic
Feb 3 1971 I was left for dead. One police car arrived to investigate a tenant’s call. The 2 cops didn’t know it was me. Later one stated if he knew it was me he would have left me there to bleed to death.
Stay tuned for
@dougpoppa1
pod cast for what really happened.
Got this DM from an NYPD cop “So I'm at work and speaking to young new officer from the bronx about movies. I asked if he saw Serpico and he goes is that the guy who ratted everybody out. Smh. I said no wtf are they teaching you at the academy”
Is this 50 yrs of progress ?
An example of the GET WELL cards I received from my NYPD COLLEAGUES after being shot and left for dead with no signal 1013 (officer down) transmitted.
No I’ll never forget the betrayal of one of their own and the lesson learned of what Police are capable of to protect THEIR KIND
There’s a lot of talk in the news today about these “bad cops”“infiltrating the police”
As God is my witness, it is exactly as I felt in 60-70s.
The reverce
I had unwittingly infiltrated a culture of rogues & thieves posing as police. That system still holds me in contempt today
Finkelstein rose to prominence in 2000 after writing his book The Holocaust Industry, in which he claims that some exploit the memory of the Holocaust as an "ideological weapon" to provide Israel "immunity to criticism". Norman Finkelstein. 😢I agree.
This is the only man I hold responsible for my being shot. In his own words he knew I was a marked man. Instead of protecting me he put me in harms way.
Now he is heralded as NYPD reform commissioner. History is written and distorted by those in power.
Unless I missed it the article neglected to mention I’ve been waiting 50+ yrs for the NYPD to issue me my authenticated Medal of Honor certificate and properly inscribed medal. So I’ll do it here.
Feb 3,1971 After being shot point blank by a dealer, I returned fire wounding him. My team did not call in officer down & left me bleeding to death. A tenant called 911
One police car responded & took me to the ER
Later “If I knew it was Serpico I would have left him to fester”
50+ years and not one apology from the NYPD, New York’s Finest.
Instead they destroyed my official records in attempt to cover their worthless asses and blackened souls.
By their deeds you shall know them.
Strange call from NYCLU yesterday they got a call from the mayors office saying if I could come down to NYC this a.m. for my Medal of Honor & Certificate, they would send a car,a 2hr ride, on such short notice I was able to attend They offered an option to deliver or mail it🙏
The most egregious acts of corruption and abuse of power are by those in power and they will use everything within their power to silence, undermine, persecute and prosecute anyone who attempts to expose them. No exceptions.
INTERESTING:
the term “Serpico Effect” is used to describe a situation where the whistleblower who exposes wrongdoing within an organization, faces hate and even danger from their colleagues or superiors.👍🏼🙏🏼
Happy WB Day.
Good morning world ☕️
Today’s my 53 B’day.
On 2/3/71, I was shot in the head & left for dead. The NYPD REJOICED. I saw my life in review & heard an almighty voice say,
“It’s all a lie” I saw the darkness separated from the light and my body laying in a pool of blood.
HALAYLUYAH
I believe the time has come for me to jump off the police and politics hamster wheel that goes nowhere.
So I can find joy and appreciate the beauty in the simple things of life.
I have just been informed that last night 3 retired NYPD detectives did a podcast in which one of them referred to Serpico as a Crooked narcotics cop” Does the feedback continue?
Excuse me while consult counsel.
It has come to my attention that on the night I got shot by a drug dealer my NYPD colleagues, who asked me to “just get the door open” knew the suspect was armed and dangerous but withheld that information from me.
I was shot in the face and no 1013, officer down was called.
I support and respect police officers that protect and serve the public but have no tolerance for thugs and cowards that abuse and disgrace the uniform for their own agenda.
I had the honor and good fortune to get a call from Dan Ellsberg today. At 92 a radiant peaceful smile.
Bright & Alert as usual on the day he thought was supposed to be his last. A man of peace at peace with himself ☮️ ❤️🩹
A national and international disgrace.
One might say SERPICO gets the last laugh.
But this is no laughing matter. 😢
Feds raid home of NYPD Commish Edward Caban, other close Eric Adams allies
Made it to 85 today with a bullet in my head for 50+years
“A great deal of my life has been spent around grownups . . .
and that hasn't improved my opinion of them”
Gonna spend the day with my 4 legged & feathered neighbors
Catch you later on

Remembering Malcolm X Assassinated: February 21, 1965, Audubon Ballroom
The NYPD were present and failed to protect him
He was 40 years old.
I remember it well.
It’s been a great day and still things to do outside. Signing off early.
I wish to thank my Twitter family for all your good wishes. Wish I could share a slice of my Carrot-banana-walnut, cranberry raisin Birthday bread with you all. 👍🏽🙏😍🥰
NYT reporter David Burnham, for his piece on police corruption, was also awarded along with deceased NYC police
chief Paul DeLise. Delise stood by me when it went public.
@nytimes
@NYPDnews
I just added this to Wikipedia;
“To date the NYPD has neglected to
Issue Serpico his Medal of Honor certificate with authentic NYPD Seal. Nor has the medal itself a proper designation as to his rank of Detective on back of said medal.”
I’ve been told I shouldn’t joke around so much or people won’t take me serious.
1) W/O humor I wouldn’t have made it this far.
2) Do I really give a twit.
IMO Corruption in the NYPD will never be resolved. It is mostly a family institution and it’s descendants will continue to carry on the traditions of their forefathers, as business as usual thanks to the blue wall of silence.
I would like to say happy 4th but for the family of Jayland Walker slaughtered by Akron police w/ at least 60 rounds that would not be possible.
My condolences.
I just received an email from 98 yr old retired NYPD Officer
still fighting a system he alleges screwed him
You may say why doesn’t he get on with his life?
Maybe it’s what keeps him going
PTSD is a bitch. You can’t understand how it works
Unless you’re one of it’s victims
I am truly overwhelmed by all your caring & supportive tweets.
There may be some misunderstanding. I’m not planning on leaving just avoiding tweeting anything about police or politics.
Your cooperation will be much appreciated. 🙏🏼
I believe the time has come for me to jump off the police and politics hamster wheel that goes nowhere.
So I can find joy and appreciate the beauty in the simple things of life.
Anyone find it at all odd that the new NYPD PC who speaks so glowingly of her department on Twitter and elsewhere has not uttered a congratulatory peep to serpico upon issuing him his Medal of Honor and certificate which she signed and dated 1/1/2022? The culture has not changed
Opinion:
Not all cops who commit suicide by cop
Do it because of PTSD or the stress bs card. Some do it because of a guilty conscience or fear of being implicated and shamed.
Non of the cops who killed them selves in my day were clean. Sorry. That’s the sad truth. 💜
My day ended with a beautiful moon and a long phone call with a brother officer who unfortunately for the city of N Y is leaving the department. One of several black officers who thought they could change the culture from within. But the new administration has failed them.
There’s a strange phenomena in the police hierarchy that enables thugs, sex offenders, racist and other corrupt behavior to flourish unobstructed while the good cops that expose it are quickly terminated, more often than not on trumped up charges.
Uvalde officer asked permission to shoot gunman outside school but got no answer, report finds
Like “Hey boss a psycho with an A/R just entered the school, should I engage or wait for a cop with balls and a brain?”
SMMFH
Too many people who become cops believe they are above the law and are entitled to more than their paycheck.
Abusing their office for their own benefit rather than the society’s
If they didn’t behave as such, then they would be entitled to our respect, support and gratitude.
I was a pre teen with a shoe shine box
When I saw a cop beat a black nanny sitting on a park bench with his club,
I felt helpless & ashamed.
At 85, I can still hear the sound, stick on bone
WHACK,WHACK
She didn’t utter a peep.
Maybe that’s why I became a cop.
Tyre case explained :
The majority of cops believe that their uniform entitles them to be above the law and their subjects have to follow their orders w/o question or suffer the consequences. Unstable, insecure macho mentality must be weeded out. But the Blue Wall prevents it.
I do not judge police officers by the uniform they wear nor people by their social standing, but by the content of their character. If I may, I would advise others to do likewise.
Can Anybody out there in the REAL world imagine what it’s like for a DIRECTOR & an ACTOR giving THEIR half ass impression of you and you having to live the rest of your life with THEIR CREATION ?
Thank you all for your thoughtfulness, caring and sharing.
Much appreciated and makes the journey all worthwhile.
I’d like to share another of life’s beautiful blessings with you today. 🙏🏼❤️
“After Serpico in the head, his partners told dispatchers that shots had been fired but never relayed that Serpico was wounded”
They never called, a neighbor did😡
