I just joined my colleagues from the House Democratic Caucus and the Senate Democratic Caucus to make our message loud and clear: it is time to bring the Senate Republican Budget Impasse to a close.

Senate Republicans at both the state and federal level would rather send children to school hungry than pass a responsible budget that delivers for Pennsylvania’s working families. What a crying shame. Enough with the politics – we must get this done now.

“I don’t know how I’m going to do it. I don’t know how,” said Trautman. “I feel bad because I think the food banks are probably going to get overrun. They’re going to start hopping from food bank to food bank. And this community alone has so much need.”

In Ambridge, the rush on a food bank has been ‘like a storm.’ But with federal food aid halted, neighbors are uniting to stave off hunger.

Food banks and anti-hunger organizations are doing everything they can to support those who won’t be receiving their anticipated SNAP benefits, but it’s going to be tough: for every meal a food bank supplies, SNAP supplies nine.

Today, in mourning and in solidarity, we mark 7 years since the horrific murders at Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill. May the memories of the eleven beloved worshippers who were killed be a blessing, and may we always unite against hatred in all its forms.

Our students, professors, and universities are feeling the impacts of the Senate Republicans’ inaction. It’s time to bring this budget process to a close and deliver the funding our schools need to thrive.

Because Republicans in Washington are holding up funding, LIHEAP funding will not be available until at least December 3. We are actively monitoring the situation and urging our leaders to get to the table and get a deal done and drive out necessary funding to PA's families.

A few weeks before Thanksgiving, two million Pennsylvanians are at risk of going hungry because Republicans in DC refuse to deliver for families. My colleagues and I are fighting to get these funds flowing, but we need Republicans to act to end this.

Today, I raised my voice in support of the bipartisan compromise budget the House sent us on October 9. This was a reasonable budget that would deliver crucial dollars to our schools, hospitals, counties, and communities. But Senate Republicans rejected this effort.
