We’re sponsoring a resolution to help raise awareness about the dangers kids face online.

Now that all the facts are clear: if House Democrats are serious about improving SEPTA and preventing service cuts, they need to come back to Harrisburg and pass our bill.

We’re only talking about using a portion of the PTTF's $2.4 billion cash balance – not draining it to dangerously low levels. The only fund PA Democrats want to drain that low is the state’s emergency Rainy Day Fund.

With billions of new dollars flowing into the transit fund every year, there is no reason to think our plan would jeopardize a single asset improvement project anywhere in the Commonwealth. Period.

🧵Here’s the truth about transit. We passed a plan that would use existing, excess funds in the Public Transportation Trust Fund to finance two years of additional operating expenses while the benefits of our reforms take hold.

We’ve been consistent in our position on transit for months. We’re willing to work on the other side’s priorities if they work on ours, including safety, accountability and fiscal responsibility. The transportation plan rejected by House Democrats could have achieved these goals.

Allowing transit agencies to use existing capital dollars that are NOT being used, so we don’t have to take money away from the General Fund that supports our schools, nursing homes and other priorities? That’s a win-win.

The budget we passed last week offered a chance to drive out funding to schools and others who need it while we are at this impasse. Whether the House agrees or not, we will continue to stand to prevent them from taking the Commonwealth over the fiscal cliff.

Kids face numerous dangers online, from threats of cyberbullying to grooming and sextortion. I’m sponsoring a Senate Resolution to help raise awareness of these threats and encourage safe online behaviors to minimize the risks to kids.

House passage of our budget would have meant immediate funding to counties, school districts, hospitals, service providers and others who rely on state funding – without the need to raise taxes. We will keep fighting to protect our communities and taxpayers.
