Former U.S. Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming. This account is no longer updated.

After 24 years in the Senate, I gave my farewell address. I have really enjoyed being a senator. Not for the title, not for the recognition, certainly not for publicity. I love solving problems for folks in Wyoming & America. I like working on legislation.

His family expresses their deep appreciation for all of the prayers, support and concern. They now ask for privacy and continued prayers during this difficult time. The family is planning to hold a celebration of a life well-lived, with details to be shared later.

Proud of our @WyoGuard members who play important roles in our communities and missions abroad. Providing aid for the COVID-19 response was just one example of their impact this year. As a former Wyoming guardsman, I send a salute to celebrate #Guard384. https://t.co/WY5IPl3Xhv

I’m especially pleased that it included provisions to strengthen America’s rare earth processing and manufacturing. I've been working to ensure that the supply chain for rare earths, from the mining to the refining, is done right here in this country – and better yet, in Wyoming.

I’m glad the Senate passed this important defense bill that prioritizes quality of life for our troops and their families while also supporting our American mining industry. https://t.co/qIH4iWBGdb

I have the honor of nominating outstanding Wyoming residents to our service academies, and this year there were students applying from every corner of the state. Click the link to see the list of nominees! https://t.co/5L39efbGIt

Wyoming is home to many firsts – first woman to vote in a general election, first all-woman jury, first woman justice of the peace, first woman governor and so many more. I’m proud to see so many Wyoming women still leading the way.

Happy Wyoming Day! Today, our great Equality State celebrates 151 years of being the first to officially recognize women’s inherent right to vote and to hold office.

The Senate unanimously passed my bill with @SenatorHassan to help protect patients from counterfeit medical products like COVID-19 tests and vaccines. It’s crucial that we protect patients and ensure confidence in our health care system, especially now.

On this day, 79 years ago, our country endured the attack and tragedy at Pearl Harbor. Today, we honor our heroes who lost their lives while fighting and all who served in WWII to defend our freedom.

In his farewell speech, @SenatorEnzi is still pushing the Senate to allow the use of iPads on the Senate floor. I've been writing about his crusade on this topic since 2014!

I especially owe thanks to my wife Diana. It has been a long journey since I first told her I was thinking of running for Mayor of Gillette 50 years ago. She has supported me more than anyone can truly comprehend. In no uncertain terms, I couldn’t have done it without her.

If my experience over the years has taught me anything, it is that we will never be able to tackle these challenges unless we find common areas of agreement first and work to solve those problems together.

As we move forward, our country has no shortage of problems we need to address. Some are out of our control, but many are of our own making.

A farewell speech by a Senator can be an important moment, and I used it to encourage my colleagues in the Senate to really focus on working together on the common ground we share to get legislation done - not get stuck fighting over the same dividing issues over and over again.
