It has been the privilege of my life to serve the people of Wisconsin in the Legislature. I am thankful to the citizens who placed their trust in me all these years, and want to offer my best wishes of success to my colleagues and constituents at the start of the New Year.

It's only right that these unused funds go back to the state to be used elsewhere, and lessen the burden on hardworking taxpayers across Northeast Wisconsin. Fiscal responsibility is the hallmark of a transparent government, one that is worthy to work for our state.

I've always been a believer in transparent government, both as your State Senator and as a private citizen. As I prepare to leave the Senate, I'm happy to announce I'll be returning the vast majority of my annual office budget - nearly $48,000 - to the good people of Wisconsin.
