President Carter didn’t just talk the talk. He walked the talk in his daily living. Jimmy Carter lived a life that truly reflected his belief everyone was his neighbor. May he continue to be an example to each of us. 5/5

President Carter was a good man who had the courage of his convictions. He lived his convictions before his presidency, during his presidency and after his presidency. He was the rare politician who said what he meant and meant what he said. 4/5

He was elected President in 1976, just over 10 years after the 1965 Voting Rights Act was enacted and at the same time Alabama Gov. George Wallace was making his final run for the presidency on a platform of exclusion rather than inclusion. 3/5

President Carter did this as a White man born and raised in the segregated rural Deep South who was first elected Governor of Georgia in 1970. He was unwavering in his support of rights for all people, including Blacks and women. 2/5

President Jimmy Carter was an extraordinary human being & President. I can never forget how when he became President he included all people & not just in a token way. I was amazed at the number of Black people & women he included in his administration at a range of levels. 1/5
