And the effort we spent trying to figure out when India started having tariffs on automobiles and semiconductors 😅 we still don't know. Any India trade historians can tell us ? Lastly coming full circle to work with @_ananyaaa again since our Qz days in 2016! Life's wonderful.

e.g. one updated enough to have smartphones or one showing just consumer goods -- ultimately it wasn't suitable so we didn't use it. Sometimes govs make a lot of noise about slapping on tariffs but they're not actually imposed e.g. EU tariffs on solar panels from china

finding it in the national customs database of the destination country. Tried figuring out what I thought would be a full dataset from the World Bank, but it's cut off in 2022/2023. Also had to wrangle with multiple HS code tables..

About tariff lines and HS codes. Turns out there's no open database showing the latest 2024 YTD tariffs for a comprehensive list of goods worldwide. (DM me if you know one) You'd have to already have in mind a specific product and its HS code before ..
