To that duty, I will remain fully focused over the next 13 days in my capacity as Secretary.

At the Department of Energy, my leadership team and I have been and will remain committed to providing the support and resources needed to ensure a smooth transition within the Department.

Now more than ever we must work to heal that which divides us. I was pleased President @realDonaldTrump stated that he would support an orderly, peaceful transition of power to President-elect Biden.

Indeed, we are fortunate that order was restored by the brave men and women of our law enforcement and are grateful for their constant willingness to protect and defend this country and its citizens.

No American should excuse wanton disregard for one of our Nation's most sacred institutions, the living embodiment of our Constitutional Republic.

First, as leaders, we must recognize that we all have a duty to be civil in our discourse and measured in our tone. And second, politically-motivated violence, regardless of ideology or cause, must always be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
