Another free opinion legislating to make apartments smaller is theft, pure and simple. You’re stealing quality of life from the people and putting it in the back pockets of developers and investment funds in the form of profits (which are already ridiculous).

The most curious thing vis a vis Trump shit show across the way is there has been no counter reaction at all, heard talk that “if he does a project 2025 there’ll be a coup, because that’s fundamentally undermine the US,” but there’s been effectively nothing far as I can tell.

I remember a few years ago trying to raise this in a class and getting shut down by the lecturer and accused of perpetuating the "Irish slave" myth, as in "why whenever I bring this up does someone mention the Irish slave thing?", which I absolutely was not doing.

Ireland can't compete & it's probably for the best it doesn't, all the same it's dispiriting how it gets internalised here, thus US race politics become Irish, ditto British class politics & the particular distinctness of what actually happens here gets erased from consideration.
